Striving to offer the Best Mexican Food in Burlington

Since we opened at the beginning of the month, the support in Burlington has been overwhelmingly positive. We appreciate your patronage as we strive to make El Gato Cantina the best Mexican restaurant this side of Lake Champlain!

As with any new restaurant, the first few weeks can be filled with unexpected snafus – plates going out missing an item, menu items being sold out, and other unexpected mishaps. But rest assured, we’re taking note and are constantly improving our process to offer you the best dining experience possible with the most delicious Mexican food.

We send out a huge thank you to all who wrote a review, comment card or even just let the waitstaff know how your experience was. We appreciate your feedback as it helps us to better serve you.

As summer begins to wind down and fall starts to creep in we hope you will join us again for an authentic Mexican meal, a delicious margarita or just stop in to say hello. We hope to see you soon.

  1. Hi Tree, Amy and I totally enjoyed our time Friday… the food was the best Ive had.. and althought I am a northerner.. Mexican is my all time favorite food and I seek it out wherever I go. Everything was excellant, food, services, prices, energy… sure I will visit often. No doubt huge success will continue for you there! Congrats! Mary Beth

  2. Dinner tonight:
we were seated at the table for two across from the open door to the kitchen and diagonal from the door that opened to the outside area used for storage and garbage. Extremely unappetizing as I watched staff scrape uneaten food into the large garbage can.
We were seated on cheap patio plastic chairs, while the tables in the adjoining area were never filled.
The waitstaff was detached and seemed annoyed.
Food: tamales were good, however I was puzzled as to why the mole was spread over the husked tamales? Once I wrestled the husks off, it was messy. Too much salad on the tostada. Refried beans had a scorched taste.
My suggestions: get rid of that spot as a seat, close the kitchen door, and re align some of your seating to be efficient. Those of us eating don’t want to be exposed to the garbage, kitchen or traffic to the restrooms.
Good luck. Burlington is hungry for some good Mexican food, and the 30 years I have lived here, yours has the greatest potentiall.
